The Probation Officer Aide
This is a regular full-time position working exclusively with adults under the authority of the Department of Community Justice. The Probation Officer Aide performs professional corrections casework; supervising and managing activities of adult misdemeanor and/or felony offenders for Department of Community Justice or court services, contacts family members, employers, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, and public agencies as they pertain to individual clients, and prepares reports regarding client background and progress while under supervision of corrections manager, pretrial services officer, or other probation officers. Duties include backup to adult pre-trial release program, coordinating community service, intake officer support and/or support for the Ready to Work Program and other similar activities, as directed. The Benefits

For the 2019-20 plan year, the County pays 99% of the monthly premium and employees pay 1% ($15.90 per month) for the Base Plan. With this plan, employees are eligible for a $100 a month contribution into an HRA VEBA account. Buy-up plans are also available.
Retirement - PERS (Public Employee Retirement System) contribution is 100% employer funded, which includes both contribution to PERS pension and IAP accounts (IAP contribution is 6% of salary).
Short-Term Disability – 100% County paid
Life insurance - $6,000 for employee/$2,000 for spouse and children – 100% County Paid.
Vacation/Sick Leave - Flexible Earned Time (FET) is a combination of vacation and sick leave. To start, you will earn 12.38 hours per month and future accruals increase based on years of service. After a year of service and depending on FET balance, employees may sell-back up to 40 hours of FET per year.
The Qualifications
The position requires two years’ college in a related field. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in a related field is preferred. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above.
Must successfully pass a criminal history background check and obtain LEDS certification.
The Candidate
The successful candidate must have excellent customer service skills, the ability to multi-task, effective problem solving skills, flexibility, and an ability to learn procedures quickly. Additionally, the Probation Officer Aide must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to work in a team environment and to interact with co-workers and the public in a courteous, professional manner, and exhibit excellent communication skills. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this classification with or without accommodation.
