Report to and assist Safety Director as requested or needed:
•Monitor compliance with all safety procedures, policies and regulations
•Assist in creation and coordination of annual Safety Plan and annual Safety Improvement Plan
•Assist in creation and coordination of annual safety campaigns
•Review and update safety procedure manuals, policies and operating procedures
•Assist with monitoring and ensure compliance with all safety procedures, policies and regulations
•Track and report operational safety and performance issues through audits and field oversight
•Assist with implementation of injury reduction efforts
•Assist with Company certification process and training
•Review reported violations of safety laws and regulations and Company procedures and policies
•Track and report operational safety and performance
•Report all incidents to management and customer
•Assist with safety meetings and training programs (including Power Safe training, New Hire training and employee re-certifications)
•Maintain, review and update documents relating to safety meetings, training programs (including Power Safe training), and New Hire documentation
•Assist with annual CPR/First Aid training for all locations
•Assist area safety representatives (ASR) and mentors
•Assist in investigation of work-related accidents that result in injury or property damage
•Assist in investigation and root-cause analysis in the event of an incident
•Inspect and audit job-site locations on a regular basis to ensure safety compliance
•Travel to interact with employees and customers regarding safety issues and compliance
•Maintain spreadsheet on PPE and vehicle inspections conducted in the field
•Supervise emergency or storm work to ensure safety of employees
•Analyze accident or injury trends and prepare recommendations for new or modified occupational safety programs to reduce or prevent accidents
•Monitor new technology and materials pertaining to Company operations
•Research occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment
•Maintain knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertinent to all safety issues
•Communicate with Safety Director regarding safety-related matters
•Consult with the Safety Director regarding any safety violations by employees that may result in discipline and/or termination
•Always be proactive in dealing with safety issues, employees and problems
•Always act with a sense of urgency to properly perform these essential functions
•Generate creative ideas to maximize safety for employees and the public
Minimum Education/ Experience:
•Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or equivalent experience in a Safety Manager/Director position or sufficient on-the-job training provided by Company
Skill Requirements:
•Organization and leadership skills
•Strong written, verbal and analytical skills
•Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI and DOT regulations
•Knowledge of Workers Compensation
•Prior experience in the field of utility line clearing is preferred
•Prior supervisory and training experience preferred
•Strong computer skills
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
•Ability to lift 70 pounds to should height
•Flexibility, including the ability to squat and bend
•Ability to work in all weather conditions and to withstand extreme temperatures
•Ability to communicate verbally with general foremen and employees
