The Waterloo Police Department is currently seeking applicants for lateral entry police officer.  Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age.  Must be a certified current officer with a Municipal, County or State police agency.  A 10 mile residency is required within 6 months of hire.  Officers work a 12 hour schedule. Probationary wage is $34.30 then after one year $37.22

People in Police positions need to be able to work effectively in an often rapidly changing environment.  Some of the common duties associated with the job descriptions for Police are:

-Maintain a constant presence in the community though regular patrols to deter crime and     provide quick help when needed.

-Help identify potential crime spots and activities which may result in criminal acts.

-Issue citation for traffic and similar violations.

-Apprehend those suspected of committing crimes.

-Write daily reports of activities.

-Remain vigilant regarding potential hazards or problems which could harm the public.
