The Village of Glen Carbon (pop.12, 974) is accepting applications for the Public Works Director.
The Director organizes, directs and coordinates the activities of the Public Works Department with the mission to ensure quality services are carried out. The Public Works Director manages the departments which include water, wastewater, street and parks and recreation. The Director oversees the procurement, management, and maintenance of the Village’s fleet of equipment, construction, maintenance, and operations of Village owned facilities. This is an appointed position by the Mayor with consent of the Village Board of Trustees. The Public Works Director reports directly to the Mayor and the Village Administrator.
Qualified applicants should possess a thorough knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of public works maintenance and construction projects. Applicants should have a minimum of five years of experience in public works supervision and management or equivalent. A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field is required. A Water or Sewer license is preferred. State of IL driver’s license required; CDL with appropriate endorsements preferred.
Salary $85,000 +/- dependent upon experience and qualifications.
