Wolf Grounds Coffee Shop Manager

Job Description:

Wolf Grounds Coffee Shop Manager: Hourly, wage position to work approximately 29 hours a week with no fringe benefits. Hourly rate is $15.00.

This position will organize daily operations and manage the Wolf Grounds student-operated coffee shop. The coffee shop is more than a business; it was established to provide opportunities to VHCC students regarding the mechanics of operating, managing, marketing and sustaining a small business. Employees will be VHCC work-study students. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding customer service, management, and leadership skills. The position will serve as a mentor to college students who work at the shop each semester.

Job Responsibilities:

•Manage day-to-day operations of the Wolf Grounds Coffee Shop

•Interview work-study students for placement at the Coffee Shop

•Create a positive working environment and foster teamwork through effective communication, training and relationship building

•Serve as a role model/mentor for student employees

•Train all employees on the use of equipment, products, recipes, and proper cleaning protocols

•Develop and manage menu, pricing and oversee the continued quality of products and services Expand menu offerings as needed or requested

•Develop work schedules for employees

•Ensure that the Coffee Shop is clean and well-presented at all times

•Maintain and repair professional coffee making equipment

•Monitor and manage inventory

•Order supplies

•Manage deliveries and receipt of goods

•Develop sources and suppliers for quality coffee and complementary goods

•Maintain accurate records

•Monitor sales, determine trends and performance of items on the menu

•Plan weekly/monthly specials

•Work with departments with special requests for events on campus

•Promote coffee sales by educating employees and customers

•Work in the absence of work-study employees

•Adhere to all state and federal labor and health laws

•Provide/promote outstanding customer service, management, and leadership skills

•Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty & staff and other stakeholders important to the college

•Other duties as assigned
