Hillcrest Market Place is seeking an Assistant Manager to ensure the highest quality and presentation of foods prepared and served within the Marketplace. Duties to include:
On-site Services and Management:
- Participating in and monitoring the preparation and service of foods. Meeting with clients to determine menus, room arrangements and cost estimates. Coordinating associated event needs.
- Maintaining and overseeing appropriate inventory levels. Determining quality of miscellaneous foods, beverages, and supplies needed for events. Ordering inventory for approved provider. Overseeing acquisition of prescribed inventory and reconciling any discrepancies.
- Assuming responsibility for cash handling, receiving payments for services, and calculating final billing.
- Providing direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved. Scheduling assigned staff according to prescribed budgetary guidelines. Coordinating and conducting staff training.
- Safety and Sanitation: Maintaining required levels of sanitation. Assuring proper labeling and record-keeping are met. Providing and/or facilitating necessary safety and sanitation training and certification.

Qualifications:
Education Requirement:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, Institutional Management, Hotel & Restaurant Administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and supervisory experience.
- Experience (typically 6 months - 1 year) in preparation and distribution of foods.
- Experience (typically 6 months - 1 year) in food service management, including staff supervision, training, and inventory control.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) software applications.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively transmit, receive and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors at a working proficiency level.
- Demonstrates the ability to adjust and develop self to prepare for new or changing assignments, processes, people or priorities as organizational needs dictate at a working proficiency level.
- Demonstrates extensive proficiency in the ability to work and collaborate with variety of individuals and groups while appreciating the unique contribution of diverse individuals.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrates a working proficiency in the ability to provide excellent customer and to meet or exceed customer service needs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
- Working experience in a large-scale food service operation.
- Working experience with electronic timekeeping systems, inventory systems, and POS systems.
