Travelers EDGE Program Manager (Student Services Program Coordinator)
JOB SUMMARY
The School of Business Office of Diversity Initiatives is seeking a full-time Travelers EDGE Program Manager (Student Services Program Coordinator). The incumbent will report to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and will be primarily responsible for the coordination and day-to-day implementation of the Travelers EDGE program. The Travelers EDGE Program Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Travelers EDGE program and related activities including being the primary point of contact for Travelers EDGE scholarship recipients (Scholars). The Program Manager serves as the primary point of contact for on-campus scholarship coordination, Scholar academic advising and support services, Scholar development activities, and all other support related to Scholar development. The position will split time between the Storrs and Hartford campuses, will spend time at Travelers, and on occasion may be asked to go to the UConn Waterbury or Stamford campuses. Some evenings and weekends and in-state and out-of-state travel will be required in support of program events and activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Scholar Recruitment and Advocacy
- Assisting with Travelers EDGE scholar sourcing and recruitment efforts by promoting the program to high school and college students and participating in the Scholar application process by reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and finalizing scholar selection.
- Facilitating transfer support from community college partners, ensuring that transfer students are integrated into the Travelers EDGE program.
- Serving as program and Scholar advocate on and off campus and speaking on behalf of the program at the request of the Travelers EDGE Program Team.
Scholar Engagement and Support
- Assisting Scholars with academic and professional goal setting; developing and implementing processes to establish and maintain records for tracking Scholar goals and progress.
- Holding monthly individual touchpoint meetings with Scholars during the academic year and communicating pertinent program information throughout the academic year, summer and winter breaks, or as needed based on relevant events and circumstances.
- Holding monthly cohort meetings with all Scholars (i.e. virtual and/or in-person) and helping foster a peer-to-peer network of support during the academic year between August and May.
- Continuing to engage with EDGE scholars during the summer months (May-August) by performing activities such as developing and implementing programming, holding individual and group meetings, providing other services necessary to best prepare the scholars for their experience with the EDGE program, etc.
- Ensuring that scholars are aware of processes and adhere to pertinent deadlines for scholarship applications, grade submissions, and other timely matters.
- Ensuring adherence to critical Travelers EDGE policies and procedures.
- Providing coaching and guidance to students on an ongoing basis and serving as a liaison to other on-campus and off-campus resources, particularly UConn’s Office of Student Support Services.
- In coordination with UConn’s Office of Student Support Services, enrolling EDGE students in an FYE course, and fostering community engagement.
- Designing and executing professional development activities and curriculum for Scholars throughout the academic year including speaker series, case studies, presentations, conferences, and career-readiness workshops.
- Collaborating with University departments, programs, projects, local and state school systems, and/or community organizations to consolidate resources and enhance programs.
Program Operations
- Attending monthly check-in meetings with the Travelers EDGE Program Team.
- Providing semester and annual data to Travelers EDGE Program Team during Data Collection Process and as requested.
- Managing pertinent Scholar data pertaining to coursework, grades, probations, and graduation and communicates data to Travelers EDGE team as appropriate, adhering to deadlines and in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
- Communicating urgent Scholar matters to Travelers EDGE Team without breaching student confidentiality or FERPA guidelines.
- Managing Travelers grant and approving and monitoring budget expenditures against the grant; preparing budget revisions and providing annual grant status reports detailing annual expenditures; annually submitting Travelers EDGE program grant application adhering to deadlines.
Office of Diversity Initiatives
- Keeping supervisor informed of all EDGE activity. Attending ODI team meetings, and providing updates regarding EDGE programming and students.
- Contributing to discussions regarding ODI programming. Attending ODI student meetings and participating in student-related activity and program planning as appropriate and time permits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Four to five years of related experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and motivational skills.
- Proven flexibility, initiative, resourcefulness, good judgment, discretion, and experience in resolving problems efficiently, effectively, and independently.
- Proven experience planning, organizing, and executing events and workshops.
- Demonstrated excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and others internally and externally.
- Dependable transportation and willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends, and to travel in-state or out-of-state as needed in support of program activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to handle several different activities and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Demonstrated excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new software as necessary.
- Ability to generate and analyze data, and prepare reports based on findings.
- Cost control and budgeting skills.
- Presentation skills.
- Fluency in Spanish.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, end-date, annually renewable position based in both Storrs and Hartford, CT. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
