At UCHC this position is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in accounting which require the application of accounting principles and practices.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

This role will be responsible for knowing, understanding, and being able to effectively communicate the operational needs of assigned departments, connecting these needs to operational budget and operational budget requests, assisting with program accounting, month and year end accounting, and potentially with project accounting.  This role will also be heavily involved with evaluating budget requests, new program initiatives, and assisting with the development of a zero based budget methodology. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; prepares journal entries and associated schedules for month-end closings; prepares schedules for monthly accounts receivable audits and annual audits; assists in maintaining plant fund ledger; maintains general ledgers/journals; coordinates work flow of cashiering/check handling function; verifies account coding on purchase/warehouse requisitions; assists in resolving patient credit balances; reconciles deposits to cash receipt transactions; verifies/approves patient refund requests; acts as liaison with data services on accounting systems; reconciles general ledger accounts; reviews/reconciles general ledger accounts for accuracy/compliance with budget; researches financial questions/problems for departments within the Health Center; compiles reports as needed; performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of professional accounting principles and practices; knowledge of computerized financial systems; proficient computer skills; interpersonal skills; ability to prepare, analyze, and evaluate financial statements and other accounting records and reports; ability to analyze and evaluate accounting methods and procedures; ability to utilize data processing for financial management; ability to communicate effectively, written and oral..

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

General Experience: Six (6) years professional experience in accounting, Finance, or auditing.

Substitution: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, auditing or closely related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the general experience. Proficiency with Excel including V Lookups, H Lookups, and other data functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Adobe experience

Fixed asset experience

Experience with Hospital/healthcare accounting and associated concepts

Experience preparing audited financial statements and/or board reports

Advanced Excel/Access skills (pivot tables, lookup functions, and data parsing/concatenating)

B.S in accounting or finance

Understanding of budgeting practices, the procurement to payables cycle, and experience with both account reconciliation and forecasting. 

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:3pm; 30 minute unpaid meal break.

FULL TIME MINIMUM EQUIVALENT SALARY: $69,514
