TrueNorth, an Insurance and Financial Strategies firm, has an immediate opening for a Claims Advocate in our headquarters, located in downtown Cedar Rapids. The primary responsibility of the Claims Advocate is to assist Risk Management/Commercial Lines clients with claims needs, acting as a liaison between the client and the insurance carrier. The Claims Advocate will act as an advocate on the client's behalf in getting claims handled in a fair and efficient manner. This Claims Advocate will work closely with clients and accounts associated with the Construction Specialty Group.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Proactively communicate the status of claims and advocacy efforts to our clients and insurance carriers
- Educate clients on the claims process for all types of claims
- Assist client in properly determining coverage
- Actively manage sensitive and complex claims for clients
- Provide assistance and work collaboratively with clients to accurately prepare claims documentation
- Collect and document information in agency management systems
- Research and understand the claim presented, contracts, case law and jurisdictional nuances
- Analyze claims data to determine loss trends and assist in loss prevention
- Review claim status, action plan and reserves using prior claims expertise to achieve a desirable outcome for all parties
- Other duties appropriate to the position
- High School diploma is required; two or four year college degree is preferred
- Minimum of four years work experience in claims is required (ie: assistant, adjuster, advocacy, subrogation, etc.)
- Prior experience with multi-lines commercial insurance is preferred
- CPCU, AIC or SCLA designations ideal
- Commercial Property & Casualty license is required or must be obtained within first 90 days of employment
