Transportation Billing Clerk
Pay Range: $13 to $15 per hour
Job Overview:
Under general supervision, performs clerical work in the preparation and processing of bills of lading and other documents related to freight shipments. Employee is responsible for processing mailing of invoices, scanning of documents for retrieval. Work requires extensive data entry, plus the use of office machines for general office work such as filing and copying.
Essential Job Functions:
• Receives bills of lading for individual freight shipments.
• Mails invoices and accompanying documentation to customers.
• Scans documents into scanner; keys identification for retrieval.
• Performs other related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• General knowledge of the company's established rates for transporting freight, and the policies and procedures for calculating rates for various types of merchandise and materials.
• General knowledge of terminology used within the department.
• General knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
• Some knowledge of standard established bookkeeping principles.
• Ability to use common office machines including calculators and popular computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs.
• Ability to maintain clerical records and to compile reports from them.
• Ability to verify documents and forms for accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with customers.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Experience with AS400.
