Information Technology Technical Assistant
Seeking a person to fill a full-time IT Technical Assistant. position. Candidate must possess the ability to troubleshoot technical equipment and software and be willing to moderate virtual meetings. Evening and occasional potential weekend hours are necessary. Includes a generous benefits package of health, dental and pension plans. Job Requirements
• Assists the IT Director in supplying, purchasing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting software and hardware for the Town of Charlestown.
• Responsible for moderating virtual meetings, which take place during the day and at night.
• Assists in the preparation of the annual Department budget.
• Provides troubleshooting, technical assistance and service to staff.
• Prepares and arranges for virtual meetings as assigned for staff and various boards and commissions.
• Supports development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware
• Makes recommendations regarding equipment needs and maintenance.
• Aids in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan executables, and responds to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, the assistant will be required to perform any other duties assigned by their supervisor.
Necessary Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES
• Thorough knowledge of hardware and software systems and programs.
• Ability to balance multiple requests at one time.
• Ability to read and comprehend statistical data, understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions, and have computer proficiency.
• Must have good interpersonal skills, be team oriented, and able to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
• Extensive equipment support experience with PC’s and networking.
• Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
• Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.
• Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred, with major course work in technical assistance, or a related field.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
