Administrative Services Specialist
The Human Subjects Office (HSO) is seeking an Administrative Services Specialist to provide administrative and project support to the Director of the Human Subjects Office. The Administrative Services Specialist will plan, build and carry out comprehensive project plans. The Administrative Services Specialist will be one of the first points of contact for the main phone line of the office. Superior customer service skills will be required to be successful in this role. The Administrative Services Specialist will also manage HSO\IRB (Institutional Review Board) reporting and accreditation activities required by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP). The Administrative Services Specialist will be a key member of the Human Subjects Office and will have opportunities to grow and develop in this role.
About the Human Subjects Office
The (HSO) was established by the to provide administrative support for the. An Institutional Review Board is a group of individuals charged with reviewing proposed research involving human subjects to ensure the protection of those subjects and compliance with federal human subjects regulations. The University of Iowa has three such review boards, each consisting of faculty, staff, and representatives from the Iowa City community.
Qualifications:
Education or Equivalency Required
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrate extensive proficiency with Microsoft Office software, (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to perform tasks that require accuracy, detail-level attention and organizational skills at a working level of proficiency.
- Demonstrates extensive, typically one to three years, customer service skills.
- Thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment that requires excellent time management skills to balance workload.
- Experience preparing business reports.
Highly Desirable Qualification
- At least one-year experience of current and relevant, research administration or relevant program coordination, e.g. program accreditations or renewals.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with and complying with non-negotiable deadlines.
- At least one-year experience in higher education, or healthcare administrative setting.
