Position Summary:
The Inpatient Department Registered provides nursing expertise and leadership ensuring quality nursing care to the clients/consumers of Tanager Place
Examples of Essential Functions:
- Responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating health services activities for Inpatient Programs and providing support for medical needs of Camp Tanager;
- Ensure strategies are in place to provide high-quality treatment for clients;
- Effectively implement the Inpatient Nursing Department’s philosophy goals and standards for nursing practice;
- Responsible for compliance with applicable State, Federal, and Accreditation health requirements;
- Support the Health Services team develop and deliver medication training such as Medication Manager, and Certified Medication Aide Training; assist with medication change over and MAR change over;
- Ability to collaborate professionally and positively with medical providers across agency programs;
- Provides psychiatric services to support agency psychiatrists for inpatient clients that include but are not limited to; participate in rounds, client assessments, lab orders, calling results, answering the phone, ordering replacement doses, ordering supplies, and other related duties;
- Take call to triage client/consumer injuries and or illnesses after business hours;
- Maintain professional boundaries with clients/consumers, families, other agency employees, schools, and pharmacies;
- Completes all necessary training as assigned including required continuous education, conference attendance, review of relevant materials, and completion of Relias training;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Tanager Place policies; procedures and safety practices;
- Attends work regularly at the designated place and time;
- Performs related work as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Effectively utilize the agency’s Electronic Health Record system;
- Knowledge and use of the agency’s Resilience and Trauma-Informed Care model;
- Thorough knowledge of clerical and administrative support practices and customer service practices and procedures;
- Operate in a trustworthy manner managing confidentiality and sensitive information accordingly;
- Ability to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology;
- Thorough knowledge and experience as a productive team member with the flexibility to adapt to daily changes in routine or assignments;
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion;
- Proficient typing skills and utilization of modern office equipment;
- Ability to critically think through issues/problems and identify effective solutions/outcomes;
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work autonomously as a positive, collaborative team player;
- Ability to care for and work with emotionally disturbed and delinquent adolescents/children;
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally;
- Ability to act as a positive emissary of Tanager Place in all meetings with public and other agency employees to promote positive image of Tanager Place at all times.

Acceptable Experience/Training/ Education:
- RN required BSN or two years prior experience is preferred;
- Experience working in psychiatric nursing and supervisory experience is preferred
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Special Qualifications:
- Current State of Iowa Nursing License
