Lateral-Entry Police Officer
The Tallmadge Civil Service Commission will be accepting applications for the position of Lateral-Entry Police Officer for the Tallmadge Police Department.
Qualifications
Persons applying for this position must either be a current sworn law enforcement officer in the State of Ohio or have been so employed within the past 12 months. A current Peace Officer Certification issued by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council, a valid Ohio Driver's License and a high school diploma or equivalent are mandatory. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, able to read and write the English Language and be at least 21 years of age.
Applicants will complete a physical fitness test, a series of interviews including an integrity and panel interview and a background investigation to include a polygraph examination. Upon selection and after conditional offer of employment, the candidate must successfully complete all standard post-conditional offer requirements, including but not limited to a psychological assessment and pass a medical examination, including a drug screen.
Special Requirements
Applicants will be ranked by the Tallmadge Civil Service Commission based on the following criteria:
One (1) point per year of full-time law enforcement experience.
One half (0.5) point for part-time Ohio law enforcement experience.
Two (2) points for an honorable discharge from active military service or current service as a member of a National Guard or Military Reserve Component.
Two (2) points for a Bachelor's Degree.
Two (2) additional points for a Master's Degree.
