Job Description:

The Director serves as the chief administrator for federal, NY state and internal financial aid programs exceeding $18 million annually and is responsible for institutional compliance with governmental regulations including the accurate and timely preparation of all monitoring reports.  The Director leads and develops the financial aid team, introduces new technology to improve packaging and service delivery, and works collaboratively with colleagues in Enrollment Services and Student Accounts to provide exemplary service to students and families.

In addition, the Director stays current with financial aid policy and emerging trends and is the subject-matter expert interpreting federal and state laws and regulations and ensuring that the College's policies and procedures reflect best practices in packaging and verification processes.

The Director appreciates the integral role financial aid plays in student retention and completion and this orientation shapes the design and delivery of financial aid services and financial literacy programming. The Director will be required to travel between both campuses.


Requirements:


Education Required:    Bachelor's Degree
Experience Required:  Seven years of progressively responsible experience administering financial aid programs in a college/university setting; demonstrated supervisory, administrative, and leadership skills. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and experience preparing federal and state reports. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial aid laws and regulations, and to utilize technology to efficiently process student aid.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  •  Familiarity with NY State financial aid programs
  •  Prior experience using Ellucian Banner to deliver financial aid services 
  •  Master's Degree
  •  Experience at a level equivalent to Assistant Director or higher
  •  Understanding of community college students/families who may be accessing financial aid for the first time
  •  Demonstrated excellent financial aid technology knowledge and experience
  •  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  •  Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationship with supervising personnel, co-workers, all college employees and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Fluency in Spanish

Salary: $62,373 to $82,645 per annum; commensurate with experience.  This is a Staff & Chair, Grade 80, 12 month position.
