Full-time Industrial Technology/Precision Machining Technology Instructor
ANNOUNCEMENT
Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the full-time tenure track instructor position in the Industrial Technology/Precision Machining Technology department within the Technical Education and Workforce Development Division. The appointment is intended for the 2021 Fall semester, beginning August 16, 2021. This is a new position created to help with the implementation of a recently acquired mobile CNC lab.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the successful applicant will serve as an instructor for the Industrial Technology/Machining program and assist the coordinator in oversight and daily maintenance/upkeep of the Industrial Technology/Machining labs. As a faculty member, the incumbent will teach Industrial Technology and Machining courses in both the traditional and computerized environment. Industrial Technology and Machining classes are held during the days, evenings, and possibly weekends throughout the district. As part of the Industrial Technology department, the candidate will assist with the implementation of a state-of-the-art mobile CNC lab providing off-campus coursework throughout the college district and neighboring districts that do not offer CNC training. The incumbent will also assess student performance and collaborate with the coordinator to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction in the Industrial Technology and Machining programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of an Associate’s degree, earned from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, in a professionally related area is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of work experience related to the Industrial Technology and/or Machining programs.
- A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in technical education curriculum development and teaching is preferred.
- Commercial Driver’s License required at time of appointment.
- Proficient in setup, operation and programming CNC machine tools. (HAAS CNC preferred)
- Knowledge of CAD software’s including SolidWorks.
- Experienced in CAM programming including 3 axis, 4 axis and 5 axis CNC machine tools. (MasterCam)
- Preferred candidate to have earned NIMS Level 1 machining certifications.
- Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers, applicable software, and Internet is required.
- Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Administration and Board of Trustees for any assigned courses.
STARTING PAY AND HOURS
The salary is determined by placement on the base salary schedule. For example, the minimum 2018-2019 starting salary at Step 1 on the Below Master’s Degree column is $46,599.00. Additional compensation will be provided for required summer coordination duties. Optional overload and summer teaching assignments may also be available which may increase the annual compensation by up to 30%.
WORK LOCATION
Sam Wolf Granite City Campus with district-wide responsibilities. Considerable driving may be required to sites throughout the metropolitan St. Louis and southern Illinois areas.
