ADULT TRANSITION SERVICES COORDINATOR
Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the full-time grant-funded administrative position of Adult Transition Services Coordinator.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the Adult Transition Services Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of designated activities throughout the district designed to assist students in transitioning into high school equivalency classes, vocational services, post-secondary education, and the workplace The Coordinator serves as the Adult Education Site Supervisor at the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus. The Coordinator works with individuals identifying needed services and the gaps in institutional services that prevent successful transitions, college retention, program completions and job placement. The Coordinator provides leadership ensuring successful transitions to meet the goals of the education plan by identifying needed services and gaps in the department’s systems and working to close the gaps by: developing and maintaining a working relationship with students, other college personnel, and key stakeholders such as business and industry; assisting in identifying and referring a student to college resources in the areas of career pathways, education, workplace readiness, and job placement. The Coordinator works directly with students and with other college offices and external agencies to assist persons needing career directions and preparation. The Coordinator serves as the department’s transitional liaison for cooperating local and state agencies. The coordinator will be required to schedule office hours and/or be assigned to any SWIC location to report for work as determined by the Director. This is a full time, twelve month administrative position dependent upon continued grant funding.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. A bachelor degree is required. Master's degree preferred.
2. Previous teaching experience required. Previous teaching and/or work experience in SWIC’s adult education department preferred.
3. Demonstrated ability in communicating and working with at risk and the disadvantaged required.
4. Previous administrative or supervisory experience preferred.
STARTING PAY AND HOURS
Grade 2 on the Administrative Salary Scale, ranging from $44,675 to $51,310.
