Online Editor
The Observer-Reporter is seeking an energetic online editor to be part of the Observer-Reporter’s award-winning news team.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent writing, editing and interpersonal skills to develop online-only content. Solid organizational skills are a must to coordinate content from multiple sources and meet tight deadlines. Familiarity with online analytics and SEO a plus.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the newspaper’s website and social media platforms;
- Acting as point person in the newsroom during breaking news events;
- Coordinating multi-media projects;
- Collaborating with other editors and reporters to increase digital content;
- Enhancing print stories with digital content;
- Developing local news ideas;
- Writing “water-cooler” stories in response to national or regional news for the website.
A bachelor’s degree and two years of newsroom experience are required. Shift is primarily days and includes some weekends and holidays. Comprehensive benefits package offered.
