Position: Heavy Equipment Mechanic (2 years’ experience required)
Pay: $27.00 to $30.00

Description: Primary responsibility is to diagnose heavy equipment repair needs and perform designated repairs on company owned machines as directed.
Essential Function(s):
- Primary responsibility is to diagnose heavy equipment repair needs and perform designated repairs on company owned machines as directed.
- Repairs are to be made on, but not limited to, skid steers, wheel loaders, material handlers, man lifts, locomotives, trucks, etc.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machines.
- Performs and assists in all trans loading and operations maintenance activities.
- Communicates with others to determine appropriate priorities.
- Sets and effective pace and minimizes the interruptions in the operations.
- Participates in safety programs and safety training and demonstrates total commitment and compliance with all Company Safety policies, OSHA and Health rules.
- Uses time effectively to troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Performs necessary service, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or re-building of parts to restore the equipment to proper operation.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Technical, vocational, trade school education or equivalent is also required. (Equivalent work or military experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirements)
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel equipment.
- Must demonstrate good problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills – both oral and written, good work habits, the ability to read and interpret machine schematics, self-motivation and a desire to perform at one’s highest level.
- Must provide proper tools to perform equipment repairs.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Must be able to climb heights and work in confined spaces.
- Reliable and verifiable attendance
- Successfully complete all required certification and training.
- MUST be able to successfully complete pre-employment physical, drug testing and criminal background check.
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must be personable and professional in appearance and attitude. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a plus in this position. Mechanical aptitude is a plus for this position.
Reporting relationships: This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor daily and ultimately the Director of Operations for Oakley St. Louis, LLC.
Working Conditions: The job is physically demanding and requires the ability to work out of doors under all weather conditions. The typical work week is a standard 40 hours with overtime during the fertilizer seasons. The worker will be required to wear a hard hat, safety-toe footwear, Hi-Viz clothing, and safety glasses. OSHA and company policy-required PPE must be worn for specific tasks, including life jackets, respirators, safety harness, and hearing protection.
