Position: 2nd Shift Supervisor. Exempt position.
Department: Dock and Dome Supervisor
Description: This position is responsible for supervising production employees and performing administrative tasks associated with the activities of the operation as part of the warehousing and distribution business. You will have to work 6 months on 2nd shift for busy season (Dec 1st thru June 1st) and 6 months on 1st shift, slow season (June 1st thru Dec 1st)
Essential Function(s):
- Responsible for day-to-day operations and plan shift assignments.
- Ability to operate railcar loading systems and equipment.
- Assist all areas on unloading, loading of rail cars, barges, and trucks.
- Daily operation of skid steers, front end loader, locomotive, and various heavy machinery.
- Responsible for safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping.
- Coordinate maintenance actives with the maintenance Supervisor.
- Expected will have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and polies.
- During employment, the employee maybe expected to train employees on the following pieces of heavy equipment: front end loader, forklift, tractor, sweeper, aerial boom, skid steer or others as needed. This will require that the employee be certified on each piece of equipment.
- Must be capable of working as part of a team. This includes good verbal skills and the ability to get along well with co-workers.
- Must be able to communicate clearly in English for both verbal and written communications. Computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Office is critical
Non-Essential Functions:
- Must be open to new challenges and flexible work schedules. This position may require overtime or weekend work schedules.
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must be personable and professional in appearance and attitude. Mechanical aptitude is also a plus for this position.
Experience: This position requires a minimum of two years of experience in supervising warehousing, a rail yard or in transportation.
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D
Reporting relationships: This position reports to the Director of Operations at Oakley St Louis.
Working Conditions: The job is physically demanding and requires the ability to work outdoors under all weather conditions. The typical work week is a standard 40 hours with potential overtime during the fertilizer seasons. The worker will be required to wear safety helmet, steel-toed safety shoes, safety glasses, life jacket as needed and specific PPE as required by OSHA standards.
