Responsibilities
- Prospecting/writing/administering grants specifically for local, state and government programmatic grants, (including some private or corporate foundations as directed and approved by the dean
- Conduct research on prospective government/programmatic grants and institutional funders, and monitor overall grant trends
- Cultivate prospective institutional funders through letters of inquiry and phone calls
- Conduct application research to prepare targeted approaches and estimate time allocation
- Develop funding concepts by interacting with program staff, publications, and experts in the field
- Write and edit grant applications, proposals, and reports in collaboration with appropriate staff, including the Senior Director of Grants and Publications
- Work with college leadership to address organizational grant funding priorities and fundable projects
- Assist in the development of program plans and proposal budgets related to applications
- Coordinate ongoing distribution of materials to funders
- Meet with foundation program officers and other external representatives as required
- Supervise the process to coordinate with NYITCOM at A-State/NYIT about grants, commitments and timelines
- Maintain departmental/college grants management files and associated records
- Maintain grant and progress report submissions in collaboration with NYIT Grant’s and Finance Office
- Maintain a college-wide grants deadline and report calendar
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- 3-5 years of professional grant writing experiences
- Ability plan work efficiently to meet the departmental budgets, goals and objectives
- Strong written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals
- Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for prospect research.
- Strong contributor in team environments.
- Experience in grants management, grant research, and grant writing
- Documented success in fund development and grants management
- Documented success in fund development and grants management
- Ability work collaboratively, including problem solving skills to resolve issues
- Strong professionalism with the ability to function efficiently in a busy environment
- Expected to work independently and/or as a team member with initiative, motivation, flexibility, organization and attention to the details and deadlines of projects and tasks
- Ability to manage multiple projects
