Executive Director
NWICDC is seeking an Ogemaa to serve as the Executive Director, to lead a dynamic and impactful Anishinaabe community development and advocacy organization, staffed with diverse community leaders. We are seeking an Ogemaa who can build on its successful growth since its founding in 1989 and organizational redesign in 2011.
The candidate must have a very strong understanding of Indigenous policy issues, a proven track record of regenerative Anishinaabe leadership, decolonization practices, social justice and nurturing healing-centered environments. This position is ideal for someone who fundamentally believes in community and loves the strength and ingenuity of Anishinaabe and Indigenous relatives. An applicant must have a demonstrated passion for social justice, an understanding of colonization-related impacts, western systems failure, historical and ongoing trauma, traditional and governmental tribal systems.
This position requires a visionary and strategic thinker who can work collaboratively with community members and stakeholders to design and nurture programs driven by and for the community. This position brings lived experience and understanding of Anishinaabe cultural value and practices, while leveraging and navigating western systems of policy, funding, and systems of oppression.
