Laboratory Technician II, Quality Control
Will assist and support the overall Quality program, to ensure site wide compliance in production, testing, and distribution of veterinary biologic products, within the guidelines set by regulatory agencies as well as Boehringer Ingelheim
Essential Job Duties:
* Follow, write, and troubleshoot SOP's in an efficient and accurate manner.
* Prepare and interpret all information and documentation related to job functions.
* Cross train between In Process (IP) and Final Product (FP) teams.
* Perform tasks in a sterile and/or aseptic environment.
* Perform qualitative /quantitative tests to ensure purity/sterility/safety of product and associated products.
* Perform tests on animals and make accurate observations.
* Promote safety in all areas of work and follow Good Laboratory Practices.
* Interpret and manipulate details of department needs to plan for efficient material and time usage.
* Rapidly and accurately adjust to Quality department needs in response to unplanned circumstances.
* Assist in or perform any Quality Laboratory Technician I duties when necessary.
* Assist in projects when necessary.
* Work with minimal supervision.
* Work occasional weekends.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion, able to bend, twist and perform repeated fine motor manipulations.
* Other duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope:
* The incumbent reports to the Quality Control Supervisor.
* Assists with projects with direction; observations and/or input are expected.
* Interacts and communicates well with others throughout the company.
* Follows procedures and adheres to good laboratory practices.
* Accurately and clearly records and communicates results.
* Acts within the guidelines established by company policy and delegated authority.
* Must understand and work with regulatory guidelines established by USDA.
* Accountable for complying with the Boehringer-Ingelheim/Newport Business Code of Ethics to the highest standards.
* Accountable for complying with the Company Handbook, all policies set by the Company.
Requirements:
* The position requires a 4 year degree in Microbiology/related field or 2 year degree in Microbiology/related field and 4 years of experience or 8 years of experience. * Animal experience is highly desirable.
* Ability to work in a Microbiology laboratory, comprehend Microbiology techniques and language and familiar with the principles of veterinary biologics.
* Good verbal and written skills; good record keeping abilities.
* Competency with mathematics through algebra and in the metric system.
* Competency with MS Office Suite applications as well as Adobe Suite and other database applications of intermediate to advanced level is highly desirable.
