The following position is available at McDowell Technical Community College. Salary is based upon the institutional salary plan. Director of Law Enforcement Training (Full Time, permanent). Responsible for law enforcement training programs. Serves as school director for BLET – evaluating curriculum, hiring/evaluation of part-time instructors, and interviewing and selecting students. Design and instruct in-service programs for law enforcement agencies and the Department of Public Safety-Corrections. Responsible for meeting all the requirements of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Standards Division and McDowell Technical Community College.
Required: Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field and Instructor Certification to teach the various blocks of instruction for the BLET program. Must have Law enforcement experience and hold current law enforcement certification through the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Education Standards Commission or the North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Education Commission. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field; Certification through Office of Staff Development and Training as instructor (Department of Corrections); and teaching experience in the community college setting. McDowell Technical Community College in Marion, North Carolina, is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and is located 32 miles east of Asheville near the intersection of Interstate 40 and NC Highway 226 South.
Established in 1964, MTCC began as the Marion-McDowell Industrial Education Center near downtown Marion, and operated as a satellite unit of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute until 1967. The college moved to its current 31 acre site in 1970 and was officially chartered in 1971 as McDowell Technical Institute.
In 1979, the college's name was changed to McDowell Technical College and in 1988 to the current McDowell Technical Community College. Although the name has changed, the process of lifelong learning has remained as its primary focus.
