Executive Director/Public Health Administrator Job Opening
Marion County Health Department is seeking applications for a full time Executive Director/Public Health
Administrator position that is based at the Administrative Office in Salem, Illinois. This position requires a
strong public health background, solid knowledge of finance/budgeting and grant management, excellent
communication skills and leadership capabilities. This position does come with a benefit package,

Essential Duties:
The Administrator ensures the successful accomplishment of the agency’s mission including fiscal,
personnel, Public Health programming, grants management, and the development of the agency’s strategic
plan.
The Administrator, plans, implements, directs, and evaluates all aspects of operation in accordance
with the policies of the Board of Health and funding agencies.
The Administrator is responsible for
administering, implementing, and directing all nursing services, administrative and operational programs
within the public health division, including environmental health and emergency preparedness services.
The Administrator develops and maintains effective public relations with the state and federal funding
agencies, local government agencies, health care organizations, community partners and stakeholders and
work collaboratively with the Board of Health for the benefit of the residents of Marion County.
Qualification and Experience
1) A master’s degree in public health from a college or university accredited by the North Central
Association or other regional, nationally-recognized accrediting agency and two years of full-time
administrative experience in public health; or
2) A graduate degree in a related field from a college or university accredited by the North Central
Association or other regional, nationally-recognized accrediting agency, which may include but
shall not be limited to a master’s degree in public administration, nursing, environmental health,
community health, health education, and two years of full-time administrative experience in public
health; or
3) A bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the North Central Association or
other regional, nationally-recognized accrediting agency, and four years of full-time administrative
experience, of which at least two years must be in public health.
