Job Description Summary |
This position will begin on or about September 30, 2019. Shift will be 2:00PM – 10:00PM, Monday through Friday, mid-August through mid-May. Shift will be 6:00AM – 2:00PM, Monday through Friday from mid-May through mid-August and when classes are not in session. This is a skilled journeyman level position. An employee in this class installs, services, troubleshoots, and repairs commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, systems, units, equipment, and peripheral devices. Work includes responding to service calls and work orders; locating and diagnosing malfunctions; performing maintenance and repair; and responding to emergencies by going on-site and troubleshooting a variety of problems. Disassembles and repairs, adjusts or replaces boiler and burner controls, safeties, control valves, thermostats, humidistats, compressors, diffusers, piping, pumps, motors, belts, pulleys and other related equipment. Work would include accessing automated systems via a computer; checking temperatures and other data; making adjustments on line or in person; monitoring adjustments to ensure desired results; and conducting routine building inspections to ensure adequate heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, and circulation in buildings. Work is carried out under the guidelines of Federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to HVAC&R operation and maintenance, and established trade practices on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis. Supervision is received from a maintenance supervisor who assigns work, inspects work in progress, reviews reports, and inspects work upon completion. Interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision is important to be successful. The Refrigeration Mechanic may perform other related duties and tasks, as required and shall have the physical, mental and emotional abilities to perform the essential job duties of the position. This position is an essential position and the employee is to be present on all scheduled work days regardless of weather conditions and/or other unforeseen circumstances. |

Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) |
Three years experience at the journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of commercial boiler, burners, HVAC&R systems, units, and equipment; Must possess a valid PA driver’s license The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview and successfully complete the interview process which may include a written test. |
