Operator/Maintenance Mechanic

Waste Water Treatment Plant Lansdale Borough has an open position for a full-time operator/maintenance mechanic at its Waste Water Treatment Plant. The position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the treatment plant to ensure continual safe and efficient operation; maintenance of sewer pipes and manholes; maintenance of pump stations. A successful candidate must be able to attain a thorough knowledge of the wastewater treatment plant and learn and perform the duties of a plant operator.

Qualifications: Experience operating manual and pneumatic tools; ability to perform manual tasks or operate equipment for extended periods of time in possible adverse weather conditions or confined spaces to include water tanks that are dark and damp and which may contain insects and/or other pests or rodents. Ability to perform mathematical calculations, e.g., add, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions. Must be proficient with the use of computers to include email, word processing, etc. Thorough knowledge of safety practices and procedures. Thorough knowledge of treatment plant equipment including pump stations preferred. Thorough knowledge of sanitary and sewer lines maintenance practices and procedures preferred. Current PA Operator’s Certification preferred.
