The Kings County Office of Education in Hanford, California is accepting applications for the above position.
JOB DUTIES: Under the direction of the department manager, work closely with students, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff and other agencies to provide services to identified exceptional needs individuals; establish and maintain a sanitary, safe, orderly, attractive and positive learning environment; act as a child advocate in collaboration with educational staff to assist in the coordination of due process and procedural safeguards for pupils and parents related to the area of exceptional needs individuals; assist in the assessment of referred students; participate as a member of the IEP team to design individual educational programs for special education students, provide direct instruction in the area of service expertise, evaluate the progress of program participants, and conduct on-going reviews of the IEP’s; plan and implement a Resource Program to teach exceptional needs students the basic learning skills and other subject matter commensurate with the emotional, physical, and intellectual development of the pupil, as indicated in the IEP; and perform other related duties, as assigned.
A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in a related field is required; coursework in the psychological characteristics of exceptional children and remedial techniques in the basic skills subject are highly desirable; possess of quality for a California Special Education Teaching Credential and CLAD Certification; possess a valid California driver license and maintain insurability.
