Function
Coordinate the College’s efforts to obtain grant funding. Identify funding opportunities and develop viable proposals for external funding of initiatives which address educational priorities and goals. Work with units across the College to assess needs, develop strategies for applications, and provide technical assistance to faculty and staff.
Organizational Relationships
Grant Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Administrative Services, who reports to the President of the College.
Qualifications for Position
Required: • Bachelor’s degree in related field • Knowledge of planning, curriculum, evaluation, grant writing, research methods, and potential funding sources • Ability to translate College priorities into proposals that have a high probability of external funding • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively manage the department including leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, dispute resolution, administration, organization, resource utilization, and accountability. • High level of professionalism, collaboration talents, and interpersonal skills so as to be able to work well with employees at all levels within the College, motivate faculty and staff to pursue funding opportunities, and develop effective external networks • Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to produce quality documents • Attention to detail, ability to balance multiple projects, and have strong time management skills • Ability to collect information through research, communication, questioning, and interviewing techniques. • Flexibility, including willingness to learn new skills and assume additional responsibilities
Preferred: • Master’s degree in related field • 3 years of experience in successful private, corporate, or government grant applications
Essential Functions
Identify funding opportunities and develop viable proposals for external funding of initiatives which address educational priorities and goals Work with units across College to assess needs, develop strategies for applications, and provide technical assistance to faculty and staff Prepare and compile components of grant submissions, ensuring that the proposal is formatted, packaged, and submitted in accordance with granting agency requirements. Provide grant opportunity information to faculty and staff including strategies for submission and preparation of proposals and budgets Establish networks with representatives from other colleges, school districts, and funding sources including but not limited to industry groups, higher education organizations, professional associations, Illinois Community College Board, area legislators, corporate and privates foundations, etc. Monitor and coordinate post-award grants to ensure administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are followed; coordinate financial oversight issues with the Grant Accountant Maintain a database and library of reference documentation including opportunities not pursued, grant submissions, grant awards, statistical information, funding agency requirements, investigator/review profiles, and other pertinent material Assist or prepare reports Maintain current knowledge of grant policies, regulations, and procedures; disseminate and present changes to appropriate personnel and advise on the implementation of changes
Other Functions
Makes necessary presentations to College faculty and staff; local, state or federal officials concerning College priorities and resource development strategies Serve on committees, attend professional meetings, and provide consultative services within the College as necessary. Complete other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position may lead the work of consultants or others. Additionally, this position leads the work of staff outside the department who are assigned to a specific grant development project.
Supervisory Controls
This position will work closely with the Director of Institutional Research and Planning, Grant Accountant, and other College employees. Employee is expected to work independently and with a minimum amount of supervision.

Employee has daily contact with College employees and students and frequent contact with external agencies and the community.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Works in a standard office environment with many deadlines. Must be able to be mobile and stationary throughout the workday, have the ability to transport 20 pounds and be able to operate a computer and other business equipment found in the office. Occasional travel to education centers, professional development sites, or other locations. Minimal travel out-of-district is required. Occasional evening and weekend hours.
