Development Manager
$45,000 TO $55,000/YEAR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Join Hands ESL, Inc. is seeking a dynamic development professional to assist the Development Director in securing additional funding to support families and children we serve in East St. Louis. The Development Manager will be self-motivated and goal-oriented, experienced and knowledgeable, with a passion for our mission. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong communication skills and a track record of increasing responsibilities and generated income from various platforms. These may include annual fund, major gifts, corporate giving, digital and social campaign platforms, grants, and fundraising events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Director of Development on all strategic development efforts and activities from identification, cultivation, ask and stewardship, to grant proposals and communications. • Expand fundraising events and corporate and individual giving programs.
- Generate revenue through timely submission of well researched, well written, and well-documented grant proposals.
- Assist in creating the annual report and timely reports to the Board and Development Committee. • Work closely with the Finance Office to ensure monthly reconciliations are complete and accurate, reconciling with accounting and donor software.
- Develop meaningful relationships with prospective and current donors, facilitating their connection to Join Hands and willingness to prioritize education as a pathway out of poverty.
- Research public and private grant sources to identify sources of funding.
- Compose and submit funding proposals and prepare impact and grant reports as needed. • Build and manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, maximizing their potential as individuals, foundations, corporate and community partners.
- Prepare information needed for donor communications, stewardship, social media, and website. • Collaborate with and support the Development Director, Executive Director, Leadership Team and Development Committee in efforts to facilitate Board fundraising.
- Experience with donor databases; DonorPerfect preferred.
- Prepare and send acknowledgment letters in a timely manner, ensuring the proper receiving, allocating, recording, and acknowledgment of all gifts.
Additional Competencies:
- Passion for Join Hands ESL’s mission is essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or other related field, with 3-5 years of nonprofit development experience, or a combination of education and documented sales success.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong interpersonal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively. • Experience with high net-worth donors, corporate giving, and donor stewardship with proven ability and willingness to solicit and secure gifts.
- Knowledge of Metro East philanthropic culture, a plus.
