This position provides support to the Industrial, Construction, and Transportation (ICT) programs, specifically, the programs located at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) building; Jamestown Campus, and the Technology Education Center (TEC) building; Greensboro Campus, under the direction of the Dean for the ICT Division, along with input from Department Chairs. The ICT Lab Coordinator is responsible for providing support to ICT faculty and students by maintaining the instructional facility in good order. The position is responsible for maintaining the laboratory areas, equipment, tooling and supplies required to support all classes and labs held within the facilities. This includes all aspects of equipment maintenance including, tooling inspection, testing, and repair coordination with outside vendors when required. This is non-teaching position. Additionally, this individual is required to ensure all equipment, tooling, and expendable supplies are in place and sufficient for the lab requirements and that labs are in safe operating conditions.

Duties/Functions

• Conduct equipment annual inspections/calibration.
• Facilitate equipment repair quote and vendor assignment processes. Additionally, provide maintenance and preventive maintenance support for equipment in the classrooms or labs for all ICT programs at both campuses.
• Perform facility audit and audit item closure.
• Ensure closure and follow up on all reported equipment failure, damage, and repair needs.
• Handle off schedule equipment repair with urgency to support instruction.
• Conduct daily facility inspection of critical equipment items
• Support faculty material ordering support and stocking for instruction
• Conduct timely coordination with purchasing and leadership to ensure state processes are followed.
• Complete pre-semester standard inventory review and ordering
• Manage the equipment check out and return processes
• Assist in managing the college’s annual equipment inventory process
• Work and coordinate facility maintenance in support of the operation.
• Commitment to observe and uphold safety procedures.
• Supervise and coordinate work assignments for work study/part time employees.
• Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.

Difficult Challenges Contacts Education Required

-Associate’s degree in a technical field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
-Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
-Valid driver’s license in good standing

Education Preferred

-Bachelor’s degree or higher in an industrial maintenance/systems, facility management or facility maintenance program from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.

Experience Required

-3 years of experience in a technical work area coordinating facility and equipment requirements (i.e., facility maintenance/ management, industrial material/supply, manufacturing project planner, manufacturing facility support)
- Experience maintaining and auditing laboratory/shop environments, including:
• Operation of a variety of hand tools and power tools.
• Conducting general maintenance routines and preventive repairs, including CNC machining equipment and specialty automotive equipment.
• Reading electrical schematics, connections, and repairs
• Reading hydraulic and pneumatic schematic diagrams, connections, and repairs.
• Experience with equipment recurring maintenance inspections and repairs
-Supervisory experience to include employee performance evaluation

Experience Preferred

- Greater than 3 years of experience in a technical work area coordinating facility and equipment requirements (i.e., facility maintenance/ management, industrial material/supply, manufacturing project planner, manufacturing facility support)
- Experience working in a manufacturing field as a materials or tooling technician
- Experience with operation and maintenance of 3D printing equipment

1. Individual must be able to safely operate a variety of industrial, construction, and transportation equipment.

Physical Demands

1. May include supporting day and evening programs administered on multiple campuses
2. Position may require standing for extended periods of time, stooping, walking, climbing, and bending to supervise students in confined areas, as well as on elevated work stands and platforms.
3. Exposure to hazardous materials is possible and will require safe handling, use and disposal. Some classes require using flammable and/or inert high pressure gases, and using high pressure hydraulic equipment.
4. Lifting, and the positioning of heavy equipment in preparation for classes and labs is required.
5. Work may be required in an environment that varies from hot to cold (seasonal), which can be both noisy and dusty, and require standing for lengthy periods.
6. Criminal history checks, with acceptable results, are required.
