The Corning-Painted Post Area School District, a system of approximately 4,600 pupils, is located in the Southern Tier of
New York State. The area that it serves is comprised of almost 35,000 people. The leading industries in the area are
Corning-Incorporated, Dresser-Rand (a Siemens Business), and tourism. The District has earned the reputation of providing an excellent educational opportunity for its students. Six elementary schools, one middle school and one senior high school make up the district. Historically, the community has always given the school system excellent support.
The Executive Principal develops shared vision and strategic plans in conjunction with stakeholders. The Executive Principal is the instructional leader of the building and takes part in selection of staff. This individual also assumes the management of the building in all aspects. Three Assistant Principals, two Dean of Students, four School Counselors and four School Social Workers make up the support staff for this individual. The Executive Principal is expected to lead all staff and faculty meetings and participates in PTA initiatives. In addition, it is the responsibility of the Principal to supervise and evaluate staff in the building. The Executive Principal also creates climate that engages parents and families in support of their student’s education.
At the end of a successful four-year period, the individual is eligible for tenure.
The Executive Principal reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education. Evaluations and goal setting for the Executive Principal are conducted by the Superintendent of Schools.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
1) Successful full-time teaching experience of at least five years
2) New York State Administrative Certification (SAS and/or SDA, SBL and/or SDL)
3) The ability to display dynamic instructional leadership at the building level
4) A thorough knowledge of programs at the middle school level
5) The ability to supervise and evaluate staff
6) Successful prior administrative experience at the building level is expected
7) The ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholder groups
