Description
The Medical Assistant performs blood draws for all medical assistant positions. Laboratory duties include routing lab test, phlebotomy, preparation and packaging of lab specimen, and coding lab slips. The provider is subject to being assigned to any of the Health District’s programs or facilities/work locations for scheduled events and educational sessions either during normal working hours, evenings and/or weekends. The Medical assistant is subject to being assigned to any one of the health district’s programs or facilities/work locations.

Qualifications
Required Skills, Education, & Experience:
- Certified Medical Assistant; copy of the certificate required
- High school diploma;
- Prior satisfactory work experience required;
- Computer literate;
- Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationship with other employees, clients, and collaborating organizations;
- Contributing to the orderliness and cleanliness of the patients’ and staff environment in joint responsibility with the rest of the staff;
- Reporting on and off duty time when assigned;
- Cooperating with the supervisor in seeking ways to improve the quality of patient care and more efficient nursing time management;
- Understand needs for confidentiality of services provided at the health center with consideration to the adolescent population, serving as a mentor without compromising student integrity of right to privacy;
- Answering phone for the clinic site, obtaining a clear message, and having the patient’s chart available for the Nurse Practitioner or Program Manager.;
- Clean and restock examination rooms as directed, checking for outdated supplies and discarding of them in accordance with Policies and Procedures and the manager;
- Checking supplies on a regular basis, notifying the Program Manager of low levels;
- Knowledgeable in the use of the copier, fax machine, answering machine, computers and programs of Word Perfect, WIC, Clinical Fusion, and other Word processing programs
- Complete encounter forms and collects payments in accordance to the billing policy and procedures;
- Performs all duties as assigned;
- Requires reliable automobile, valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance;
- This agency requires all employees to maintain strict confidentiality of medical and other proprietary records.
