Description
The East Side Health District (ESHD), in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is hiring numerous Contact Tracers to support ESHD to perform COVID-19 contact tracing.
Position Summary
IDPH and ESHD are organizing teams of community contact tracing staff across St Clair County as a key strategy for preventing further spread of COVID-19.
The Contact Tracer Program Manager will supervise a team of Contact Tracers who are working with COVID-19 patients to help them recall everyone with whom they have had close contact during the time-frame while they may have been infectious, then contact the individuals to let them know of their potential exposure, and connecting contacts with various services (including social support structures, testing, clinical care, etc.). The Contact Tracer Program Manager will track progress against target goals and provide supervision and mentorship to staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise a team that collectively performs all functions of the COVID-19 Community Team response.
- Coordinate the team’s schedules and provide supervision and troubleshooting.
- Resolve issues and brainstorm and implement solutions.
- Call patients who have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 to provide support and gather information.
- Help patients recall everyone with whom they have had close contact during the timeframe while they may have been infectious.
- Call the contacts to discuss their potential exposure.
- Communicate with contacts in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Collect and record information on symptoms.
- Provide contacts with information about how to separate themselves from others who are not exposed, how to monitor themselves for illness, and if appropriate, refer them to testing according to procedures or to a Resource Coordinator for additional resources.
- Track daily and weekly progress for the team against target goals including cases contacted successfully, contacts tracked and referred, and patients and contacts referred to social support systems.
- Perform quality assurance through listening in on calls or to recordings of calls and providing feedback to the team.
- Liaise with partners and stakeholders at the ESHD
- Call each person under active monitoring daily for 14 days to check that there is no onset of symptoms.
- Maintain contact with Contact Tracer Supervisor &/or Administrator of ESHD
- Conduct other related duties as assigned.
Important Information
- This is a full-time managerial position.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related professional experience.
- 3 years of related professional experience (in addition to the educational requirements).
- Experience supervising staff.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.
- Ability to communicate verbally in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Good project management skills and the ability to track the progress of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Good critical thinking skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency with computer software.
- Work experience and/or lived to experience with communities experiencing/at risk of disproportionate COVID-19 impact.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Familiarity with Oregon geography.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in clinical medicine and/or public health a plus.
- Fluency in a second or in multiple languages a plus (specifically Spanish). Please indicate the languages spoken in your application and/or cover letter.
- Prior experience in contact tracing.
Preference will be given to residents of ESHD jurisdictional area.
