The Network Engineer ensures continuity of school district IT applications, products and services for users by providing the technical expertise in designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting of the District’s IT network. Designs and installs LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems, and network segments.
Specific technical administration would include, but not be limited to: Ensuring network connectivity throughout the district’s LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations, maintain and monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users, perform disaster recovery operations and data backups when required, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and other network and system problems, evaluate and modify system's performance, replace faulty network hardware components, make recommendations for future upgrades, assign routing protocols and routing table configuration, administer servers, routers, switches, firewalls, software deployment, security updates and patches, work with 3rd party vendors and service providers, provide technical assistance and advice to users as needed, install software and hardware products.
Critical skills: In addition to technical aptitude and experience, the successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to provide excellent user customer service and have a proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Further, the candidate must present evidence of flexibility and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as a team member, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Leadership aptitude and potential would be a plus as upward career mobility may be possible.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate's Degree in IT field required
- 3-5 or more years of related experience preferred
- 12-month position. Monday-Friday: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional weekend hours for performing upgrades or other duties
