Deli Star Corporation is seeking an Electrical/Instrumentation Technician for its Corporate Offices and Manufacturing Plant located in Fayetteville, IL (St. Louis-area). Qualified candidates must have experience working on multiple equipment and process improvement projects for a food processing company.
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Provides technical expertise to plant personnel during equipment problems, repair, troubleshooting and during root cause investigations.
- Sets up, calibrate, tests, measure and repair all types of electrical controls, instruments, and electronic components.
- Collects equipment operation history and data to facilitate reliability improvements.
- Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and helps document failure analysis.
- Provides technical assistance to our manufacturing plant which includes planning and implementing investigation and root cause analysis.
- Install, program and troubleshoot PLC’s, Soft starts, Metal Detector and InkJet systems, proximity switches, photo cells.
- Understand, trouble shoot, identify root cause of failure, and repair pneumatic components
- Works closely with Research & Development and Quality on product improvement projects.
- Works closely with Production Manager and Operations on process improvement projects.
- Support cost savings initiatives through ingredient, product & process optimization.
- Provide troubleshooting support at the plant level in coordination with Operations personnel.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures for new equipment and process improvement.
- Establish baseline product and process metrics and innovate process improvements with clear, measurable results.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of high school diploma and adequate industry experience is required.
- Associates Degree in Control System Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology or similar curriculum is preferred.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry with a demonstrated understanding of mechanical processes, and equipment such as boilers, dryers, evaporators, solid and liquid material handling and conveyance.
- Knowledge of HACCP, USDA, FDA, as they relate to the food processing industry.
- Project management skills are required.
- Must be able to work in a meat-processing environment (wet, presence of blood and meat juices, loud noises, etc.)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Company personnel as well as customers and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of statistical process control and ability to analyze statistical data.
