The Public Works Analyst will work with the Deputy Director of Operations and Maintenance and the Road Superintendent to develop and implement the Asset Management Program. The incumbent will analyze program data, identify issues, trends and options and develop recommendations. The incumbent will perform field data collection, input data in Public Works asset management system, document findings, perform quality assurance/quality control, and analysis. The incumbent will provide support for the field-based condition assessment program to ensure program data collection requirements are being met.

The Public Works Analyst will analyze all asset classes and recommend optimal maintenance, replacement schedule and project grouping. He/she will communicate results of analysis to management, perform duties to administer asset management software, and ensure that data are valid. The position requires a highly-motivated individual, with excellent problem solving abilities, superior verbal and written communication skills, with experience in the field of municipal infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be patient, intuitive, and detail-oriented.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Public Works Analyst I

This classification is the entry-level position. Incumbents are expected to perform professional technical work of average difficulty while being trained in departmental procedures and more complex technical methodologies.

Public Works Analyst II

This classification if the journey level position in the professional technical series. Incumbents are expected to perform difficult professional work and may be assigned responsibility for small projects or portions of major projects.
