CommonBond Communities invites qualified applicants to apply for a Special Events Intern in our Central Office in St. Paul, MN. This position offers a range of hands-on learning opportunities including data management, website and social media publicity, and vendor and volunteer management. Internship runs January – May 2020. Intern must be present at the Gala on Friday, April 24, 2020 – including all-day set up and rehearsals, night-of event execution, and clean-up/tear-down. Ideally participate in post-event briefing.

Essential Job Functions and Associated Tasks
- Assist in managing Silent and Live components of CommonBond’s Celebration of Home Gala
- Create solicitation letters for item procurement and make follow-up phone calls as needed
- Enter silent and live auction information into auction management database
- Run reports from database
- Copywriting of item descriptions for auction signage, event program, website, and other communication pieces
- Locate and use pictures for entry in to auction item database
- Assist with picking up, accepting, and storing all auction items
- Participate on Gala Task Force Committees
- Attend meetings
- Assist in goal setting for Silent/Live Auction and for event as a whole by actively participating in group discussions and decisions
- Assist CommonBond staff and events consultants with other gala logistics
- Participate in menu tasting and vendor management
- Assist with any AV and décor management as part of a larger team
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and job descriptions
- Participate fully in CommonBond’s Celebration of Home Gala on Friday, April 24, 2020
- Help set up silent auction and ballroom areas during the day
- Assist with all components of the evening program
Qualifications
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work both as a team and independently
- Enthusiastic about learning new skills, databases, and event functions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with the public
- Strong organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail, accuracy and follow up
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
