Street Department/ Equipment Operator
The City of West has a full-time opening for Street Department/Equipment Operator. Salary will vary, depending on qualifications. Normal hours are Monday - Friday, 8-5, but summer hours vary. Job functions include operating heavy equipment, maintaining city streets and drainage ditches, mowing city owned property, driving and hauling material to and from job sites, performing maintenance on equipment, keeping records of work performed. Employee will be exposed to all weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, insects, dust, poisonous plants, unpleasant smells, fumes, traffic hazards and physical stress from exertion. Some employees may have contact with buried electric, phone and television cable lines. This position follows DOT guidelines. Requirements include a valid Class B Texas CDL license within 180 days of hire date, High School Diploma or GED equivalent, two years of experience operating light or heavy equipment and ability to meet physical demands.
