PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to the Rules and Regulations of the Application process, to announce the written and physical agility test. For the purpose of es- tablishing an eligibility test. Applications will be available at the Venice Police Department, on Thursday, March 12, 2020, from 7 am to 6 pm. All applicants are required to have their application completed and turned into the Venice Police Department by Friday, April 3, 2020.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 3 pm at Venice City Hall, 2nd floor. We provide infor- mation at that time as to the date of the test. Police officers in Venice are required to live within 35 miles radius; a born United States Citizen; or other citizens born outside the United States who is protected from discrimination under the provision of Section 1324B of Title 8 of the United States Cods, as amended. All application meeting the initiate quali- fications will be place on the eligibility list.
AGE REQUIREMENTS: All applicants are required to be between the ages 21-35. Applicants can be waived under the Act if he or she can demonstrate or establishes pre- vious employment as a full-time Police Officer (65 ILCS 5/10-2. 106 and 14). Age requirement is waived if the applicant was recently discharged from Military Services, or was dis- charged within the last ten (10 years).
STARTNG SALARY is $15.56 per hour/Probationary Police Officer.
Lateral option for candidates with the following: 1) Certified Police Officer (complted an approved police training acaademy and passed the state certification test). 2) 2 years experience working as a plice officer.
