The City of North Liberty has an opening for a full-time Planning Assistant/Code Enforcement Officer. The main responsibility of the successful applicant will be to work with property owners to assure compliance with zoning and related laws, sometimes involving issuance of citations and court appearances with the City Attorney. This position will provide excellent experience in understanding how zoning works at the most critical level for a planning school graduate, but others with appropriate skills are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
- A minimum of two years of college or trade school education and two years of experience working in some capacity with the public is preferred.
- Applicant must demonstrate a high energy level, be self-motivated and detail-oriented, and must possess excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Excellent technical writing skills and full command of the English language are required.
- Position requires a valid Iowa driver’s license.
- This position reports directly to the City Planning Director but works with many other City offices including police, fire, streets, building, legal, and others.
