The City of Edwardsville, Illinois (population of 25,000 and the County seat for Madison County, Illinois) is seeking candidates for the Parks Director position who possess strong leadership, financial management, organizational, marketing, and interpersonal skills. This position became available due to a retirement. Successful candidate will have operational responsibility of the parks, recreation, and sports complex, including policies and procedures, formulate and administer budget and fiscal matters, planning, construction, maintenance, landscaping and turf management, coordination and supervision of all park systems; to plan, direct and review the activities and operations of athletic fields and swimming pool/splash pad; to coordinate assigned activities with other City departments and outside agencies. Exercises direct supervision over professional and laborer staff.

The City seeks a professional Parks Director as a partner in ensuring the continued high quality of life that the community now enjoys and to provide the appropriate leadership required to position and sustain Edwardsville for the foreseeable future.


Initial salary expectations for the position is $75,000-$85,000, depending upon qualifications and experience. Medical/Dental/Vision coverage and IMRF Pension. Upon appointment by the Mayor and approval by City Council.
