The City of Edwardsville is creating a hiring list for lateral police officer candidates. In order to apply, a candidate must have an associate’s degree in criminal justice or a bachelor’s degree in any field. In addition, a candidate must be currently serving as a police officer and have held their current position for at least two years.
Responsible for the protection of life and property; performs law enforcement and crime prevention work; community education (DARE); controls traffic flow and enforces state and local traffic regulations; performs investigative work; participates in and provides support and assistance to special crime prevention and enforcement programs; and performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of the department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
probationary period including but not limited to a Field Training Officers Program.
Position: This Application is for an existing law enforcement officer to transfer to and join the City of Edwardsville Police Department.
Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed Basic Law Enforcement Training Course and have 24 months service at their current law enforcement agency or police department.
Residency: Following their appointments, new police Officers are required to relocate to Madison County within (18) Months of effective employment date.
Wages: A Probationary Police Officer for 18 months with a starting wage of $31.31 per hour. After 1 year, hourly rate increases to $34.80. Wages based on 2184 hour work year. In addition officers receive an option for 120 hours of Holiday pay or time off annually.
