Diversity and Inclusion Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Diversity and Inclusion Manager works with the Human Resources Director on matters related to Affirmative Action metrics, analyze statistics regarding employment data, application flow, hires, promotions, transfers, demotions, reorganizations, termination and other movement. This position assesses risks and disseminate results to the Human Resources Director and is responsible for recognizing, creating and implementing plans to promote diversity.
- Researching and advising on diversity and inclusion issues.
- Ensuring the City follows appropriate legislation and employment law regulations around bias and inclusion.
- In partnership with the Assistant Director, advise on building diversity, equity, and inclusion considerations into recruiting and retention strategies at scale. Assist with building hiring plans that provide equal opportunities to all candidates, internal and external.
- Identifying external trends and recognizing best practice which will increase diversity among the workforce.
- Maintaining relationships with diversity related businesses, with the intention of working together and improving the City's mission.
- Preparing and building relationships among colleagues through diversity and inclusion training and events.
- Reviewing the organizations workplace, policies and procedures, ensuring that these are all inclusive.
- Identify professional learning needs and develop training for employees to help them embrace differences and build community.
- May be called to act as a neutral, independent investigator to conduct prompt, thorough, unbiased investigations of reported incidents by interviewing all parties and relevant witnesses and by identifying and gathering other information and documents relevant to the resolution of the complaint.
- Participate in or manage special projects, including but not limited to EEO/AA, ad-hoc reports, presentation and/or facilitation of diversity, equity and inclusion educational initiatives and facilitating work groups.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent area and experience in a related field and minimum of five (5) years of experience that directly relates to the position responsibilities, such as experience in Human Resources supporting diversity and inclusion strategy initiatives and diversity recruitment is required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must successfully complete and pass a Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Experience in designing professional learning around diversity, equity, inclusion and/or cultural competency.
- A working knowledge of community building and conflict resolution along with leadership and facilitation skills.
- Ability to effectively work across global cultures and partner with organizational and community leaders.
- Ability to handle complex issues with discretion.
- Knowledge of Affirmative Action Plan development.
- Knowledge of investigatory practices and report writing.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment and multi-task/manage multiple projects.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use data to create, develop and execute positive people strategies.
- Knowledge of EEO/AA laws, OFCCP regulations (e.g., Title VII, ADA) and Human Resources practices.
