Mathematics Teacher & Speech- Language Pathologist

The Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District is accepting applications for the following probationary positions beginning in September 2019:
•MATHEMATICS TEACHER — JFK High School
Position Summary/Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide learning strategies and support to high school students which will allow them to reach academic success. The mathematics teacher reports to the building principal for which he/she performs the majority of his/her duties.

Possess strong knowledge and experience teaching high school mathematics
Embrace the District’s Vision of educating the Whole Child
Develop innovative strategies, programs and workshops to enhance student learning
Provide individual and group academic coaching to help students understand their learning issues, improve academic competency, and build confidence
Develop enrichment programming to supplement course-specific student learning
Collaborate with academic advisors, the Department of Special Education Services, and other departments regarding students’ academic learning issues
Create and maintain individual and aggregate data, records, and reports; analyze course and participation data; and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
NYSED Certification in Mathematics 7 – 12
Evidence of successful teaching of mathematics
Evidence of successful implementation of instructional support to struggling learners and/or students in need of enrichment opportunities
Belief that all students’ learning can be accelerated
Demonstrated knowledge of technology and its application in the classroom
Experience teaching AIS/RTI students and selecting appropriate interventions preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and curriculum development including planning, execution and evaluation of materials, supplies, and lessons
Confirmed ability to effectively collaborate with peers, parents, students and supervisors on a regular basis
Willingness to contribute to school community outside of the classroom, i.e. student clubs, district and school committees and professional development
Ability to reflect and contemplate on one’s teaching – allowing for growth and continuous improvement
•SPEECH- LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST — Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School
Position Summary/Purpose:
In the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive learning environment that recognizes the unique needs and talents of all students by combining character education with a curriculum based on critical thinking. The emphasis is on teaching the whole child in order to create lifelong learners who are best prepared for college, career and beyond.
Responsibilities & Skills:
The successful candidate will:
Be responsible for providing speech-language therapy for children with various speech-language disabilities and other various disabilities that impact the child in a school environment;
Be responsible for conducting and interpreting speech-language assessments, including screening and diagnostic evaluations to determine eligibility and appropriate recommendations within Child Study Team and Committee on Special Education processes;
Utilize progress monitoring, data collection, and continuous evaluation to determine appropriate therapeutic intervention for students. Annual updating of individual education plans (IEP) and familiar with IEP Direct
Have a strong background and/or experience in designing engaging and therapeutic lessons that enhance learning, target language literacy intervention and English Language Arts instructional strategies;
Be expected to serve as a role model for the students, staff, and the community with regard to setting high expectations for learners and supporting them in reaching their goals;
Member of the Child Study Team, within the framework of multi-tiered interventions and able to share research-based instructional strategies and interventions based upon student needs;
Have a strong background and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, including intervention strategies and strategies to support diverse student learning needs;
Have excellent oral and written communication skills; and
Other duties as assigned by school principal and/or Director of Special Education
Requirements:
New York State Certification as Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Speech-Language Disabilities
New York State License as a Speech-Language Pathologist
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology preferred.
Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist working with children preferred
Salary/Pay Scale: Per the CSUFSD TAC Contract
