This position is for an individual with a documented disability to participate in AbilityOne, a vocational training program.
- Responsible for grounds maintenance duties at Scott Air Force Base.
- Mows, trims, edges and blows/sweeps grass using mowers, trimmers, edgers and blowers
- May be assigned to plant sod, shrubs, flowers, trees and/or landscape materials like blocks, pavers and rocks
- Pruning, raking, applying or removing mulch and watering
- Expected to safely operate equipment and to help perform minor maintenance of filing fluids, greasing, cleaning, replacing string or sharpening blades.
Physical requirements:
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs

- Frequently works in sunny, hot, and humid weather.

Position Overview:
1. Performs floor care and restoration. Sweeps, vacuums, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs, and waxes floors, cleans carpets.
2. Operates floor care equipment. Cleans and maintains hard surface floors using various kinds of power equipment and cleaning solutions. Equipment includes scrubber, gloss burnisher, side by side floor machine, wet & dry vacuum and high speed buffer.
3. Assist crew in completing contract required tasks. Clean, sanitize, and restock bathrooms including sweep & mop floors, sinks, toilets, glass & mirrors, stall walls, stainless steel. Vacuum, sweep, mop of floors and stairs. Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary. Maintain and organize chemical and equipment storage areas in a clean, organized and safe manner. Clean, sanitize, and restock common areas and break rooms including sinks, countertops, microwaves, coffee makers, and refrigerators in break rooms. Dust and clean office desks and furniture that are not cluttered. Clean windowsills and windows.
4. Assists crew in cleaning and sanitizing the meat room, meat cooler and supply area. Washes, applies cleaning agents, wipes, and mops all surfaces. Pressure washes the entire room. Empties drain screen. Dismantles equipment. Washes, rinses, and sanitizes removable parts. Wipes down stationary parts with cleaning agent and sprays with pressure washer. Washes small containers and utensils. Re-stocks meat room supplies.
5. Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals.
6. Contributes to teamwork by training and helping co-workers, communicating needs to the supervisor and implementing feedback for improvement. Continually performs duties with a special focus on safety, quality and customer service.
