Description | Responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as and company rules, in accordance with the accepted principals of the safe operation of a cargo tank motor vehicle while safely transporting crude oil and other hazardous material. Key Responsibilities: • Know and comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and company rules and regulations that are in accordance with the accepted principals of the safe operation of a cargo tank motor vehicle. • Driver must be able to report for dispatch at time specified, and to maintain contact with dispatch offices as required. • Complete driver daily logs and all necessary trip reports, fuel reports, damage reports, and other paperwork required by company, to be turned in as instructed. • Know and be able to comply with the proper methods of loading and unloading for the various cargoes to be transported. • Follow company guidelines in regards to acceptable conduct when dealing with customers, fellow employees, and the motoring public. |
Requirements | Requirements: • In accordance with Section 391.11(b) (1) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation, a driver must be a minimum age of 21 years old. • In accordance with Section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, a driver must be able to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquires, and to make entries on reports and records. • Have a Commercial Driver’s License, and other appropriate endorsements and state requirements, to be carried in truck cab while driver is in service. • Driver must be able to qualify physically, and obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate, under the requirements of Subpart E, Section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. • Driver must be able to familiarize self with, and be able to comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and company rules and regulations that are in accordance with the accepted principals of the safe operation of a cargo tank motor vehicle. • Driver must be able to report for dispatch at time specified, and to maintain contact with dispatch offices as required. • Driver must be able to complete driver daily logs and all necessary trip reports, fuel reports, damage reports, and other paperwork required by company, to be turned in as instructed. • Driver must be able to familiarize self with, and be able to comply with the proper methods of loading and unloading for the various cargoes to be transported. Physical/Mental Requirements: • In accordance with Section 396.13 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, a driver must be able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as required, in order to perform required vehicle inspections. • Climb trailer ladders, when required, to ensure closure of dome lids following loading or unloading. • Handle a crude oil work tray and be required to carry it up tank ladders with one had while grasping the ladder railing with the free hand in the process of gathering, measuring and working the oil sample. • Able to consistently work with sections of hose that may exceed 20’ in length, measure as much as 4” in diameter, and weigh as much as 75 lbs. in order to safely and properly work with coupling, connecting and disconnecting hoses. • Able to sit for extended periods of time in a truck tractor and be able to drive, as mandated by Federal law, for as many as 11 hours while transporting hazardous and/or non-hazardous products. Work Environment: • Must be able to work out of doors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor in a safe manner. • Work indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment. • Work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.
