Secretary/Receptionist
Perform secretarial duties in a confidential and professional manner utilizing electronic medical record (EMR) modules and other office equipment to perform all clerical tasks in an efficient and timely manner. Works in collaboration with therapists and other staff members.
Receptionist Duties: Assists the patient from initial patient contact to discharge by way of gathering information, verifying insurance, collecting co-payments, scheduling patient, and under the guidance of the therapists, will assist with paperwork required for equipment or insurance needs. Assist patients with questions regarding clinical charges and basic insurance benefits. Effectively controls practice expenses through efficient use of medical and clerical supplies.
Information Administration: Manage office information, including hard copy and electronic files and data, ensuring appropriate confidentiality of information access and retrieval; utilizes office information systems for on-demand information retrieval, preparation of communications and reports. Proficient in the following systems: Microsoft office, Meditech, EcW, Connex, Virtual Merchant. Documents all essential patient encounter information in the electronic medical record (EMR), or other means as appropriate. Documents accurately and completely all insurance information and completes verification/authorization as needed.
Customer Service: Provides service excellence to internal and external customers through office reception practices, communication management practices, professionally managing customer needs and concerns, anticipating and responding to customer requests or making active referral to subject matter expert/decision-maker who can fulfill the customer’s request.
Communication: Ensures essential communication is composed, produced, organized and disseminated for specific recipients, including managing electronic and hard copy mail. Ability to multi-task under pressure while maintaining good working relationships with other team members. Works with all therapists in maintenance of patient schedules for initial and follow up visits. Accommodates adjustments to schedules based on therapists and patient’s needs.
Required Experience:
Required: Two years of experience as a secretary in a medical office setting.
Preferred: Experience in a healthcare or service industry environment.
